New hairdo

My friend and stylist had an appointment cancellation, so I got in for a cut and color. Out with several inches and the dark-to-light look and in with an all over color that’s closer to the dark that was hiding underneath the top layer.

Full of fun

This girl is full of energy and fun every day. This collage captures just a snapshot of what I’m referring to.

Summer cut – #3

Shecklet #3 is the third kid in about two weeks to update their hair. She wanted to go short, but not as short as her sister. She trusted me to do the chop and this is what she ended up with! (Her last cut was in March 2020 😳.)

A kabob

Shecklet #4 has been asking for a haircut for a while. Our friend/stylist was able to fit her in this afternoon – last minute. She asked for a β€œkabob” and I don’t have the heart to correct her – to tell her it’s a β€œbob.” It’s just too cute.

Haircut 2020 πŸ’‡πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

This guy hasn’t had a full-on haircut in over a year and a half. My friend (who dyed my hair last month,) trimmed him up a bit prior to Astrid’s funeral, but other than that, he has let his locks grow non-stop since mid-2019. After scrolling through some ideas on Pinterest, we came up with a few options for him to show the same friend/stylist. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to give him such a major transformation. He looks like a new kid! I mean, teenager πŸ™‚

Birthday hair 2020

It’s been months since I treated myself to anything related to my hair. We’re talking pre-covid shutdown.

I decided my upcoming birthday was a good excuse for a cut and color. And since it is 2020, I went bold. Because why not??

I love that my friend is a stylist. It was a treat to be able to catch up on life, kids, school, and everything else while the chemicals did their magic.

I love how it turned out!

Lincoln thinks I look like Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Quarantine haircut

Shecklet #3 was in desperate need of a trim. Her hair kept getting knotted underneath and it’s probably been over a year since her last haircut. It’s not salon quality, but my stylist friend gave me the πŸ‘πŸ» that I did ok. 😊

Two years of growth

When I had my craniotomy two years ago, a portion of my head needed to be shaved clean. Thankfully, my surgical team was very experienced and knew to leave a small section of hair in front of my ear.  When my hair was down, you couldn’t even tell it had been shaved. That shaved area has been growing back ever since. At first it was fuzzy, then it was curly, and now it’s a unique texture and wave that I can’t straighten no matter how hard I try.

Very few people have seen what I looked like after surgery.  This was taken shortly after the medical resident removed the tightly wound bandage that I wore for just shy of 48 hours:

To say I’ve neglected my tresses the past two years would be an understatement. Most of the time (now that it’s all long enough) it’s pulled back into a ponytail of sorts.  I decided to go in for a healthy trim a few days ago and now you can hardly tell the difference between the “new” section and the old.  Hooray for two years of growth!
