Dentist four 4

I was able to get all of the kids in for dental cleanings today. Jake took the day off (for Shecklet #3’a birthday,) so he came with us as well. Four sets of teeth, four great reports! And #4 did awesome during her first check-up! She let Dr. Sharp check her teeth and the hygienist was able to do a complete cleaning.

If my walls could talk…

then perhaps they could tell me how this happened:

Nolan’s lower teeth used to sit in a row.  Now, it seems one is out of alignment – pushed toward the front.  *sigh*

I went downstairs for a minute and left the boys playing nicely in the living room.  30 seconds later, I heard screaming & crying.  Nolan came down the stairs mumbling, “My tooth is loose!”  Sure enough, one was wiggling, there was blood in his mouth, and he was sobbing.  As a mom, any sign of blood in your kid’s mouth makes your adrenaline pump.  You never know what you’re going to find.  I was able to deduce that somehow Nolan’s mouth had a run in with Lincoln’s foot.  Don’t ask me how.  Unfortunately the two of them can’t recall how it happened either.  All I know is we made our first emergency trip to the dentist this afternoon.  Our little man should be just fine, but we have to watch things for the next couple of days.

We made it 5 years without an accident that warranted an unexpected trip to the doctor or dentist.  Not a bad run, if you ask me!

Dentist

Today was the day.  Nolan visited the dentist for the first time!  Well actually, we tried bringing him 6 months ago just to let him see the office and try riding in the chair, but he wanted no part of it.  What a difference half of a year makes.  He watched me go through my appointment (sitting on Daddy’s lap) and then when it was his turn, sat there like a pro!  He had me hold his hand, but other than that, he didn’t need any other support.  (The staff at the dental office are fantastic!)  He wore sunglasses to block the bright light from shining in his eyes and they even played a DVD for him to watch.  (Man, things have changed since I first went to the dentist!)  Afterward, he picked out his toothbrush and got his picture taken with Dr. Shamp.  Now whenever we drive by the dentist’s office, he tells me that he wants to go again.  How’s that for a great first experience?!
