Fatherā€™s Day 2021

Celebrating this guy today.

And gathering with family to also celebrate Daveā€™s birthday. (Missing Aunt Bri – Uncle Jason made a solo ling weekend trip this time.)

42

Happy birthday to this guy! He now knows the “answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.”

Lullaby šŸŽ¶

When you tell the Amazon echo dot to make an announcement, it will sometimes preface your announcement with a sound. We knew this from announcing ā€œdinner time!ā€ which is preceded by a dinner bell ringing.

Last night Jake and I were sitting at the table with the boys (the girls were in bed) and we could hear noise from upstairs that didnā€™t sound like sleeping. Jake told the echo dot to announce, ā€œgo to bed.ā€ Little did we know, that phrase triggered a gentle lullaby tune before the ā€œdad voiceā€ announcement, ā€œgo to bed.ā€ The four of us looked at each other couldn’t stop laughing.

Fatherā€™s Day 2020

I put together a collage of pictures with Jake holding the Shecklets as newborns.

Bittersweet day. Itā€™s hard to not feel Astridā€™s absence.

Dad quotes

I’m going to file this under “Things I never imagined I’d hear my husband say.”

“That is applesauce, not mouthwash.”

Spoken to one of the Shecklets at lunch today.

The Hobbit

Jake took the boys to see The Hobbit (as a play) at the Stages Theatre this morning. Both were very excited to see the book ā€œliveā€ in stage. Shecklet #2 was wondering if they would be using metal swords during the fight scenes.

1st snow of 2016

Heavy, wet snow fell yesterday afternoon and evening. Shecklets 1 & 2Ā helped me shovel the driveway and then played outside, built mini snowmen and wrote letters in the backyard snow. Then, this afternoon, Jake and the boys added white lights to the green and red lights on the pine tree in the backyard.
