Math lesson

Growing up my dad would ask if we wanted a “math lesson,” which meant did we want to play cribbage. Today, Shecklet #2 was home sick from school, so I thought it was an appropriate time for him to have a math lesson. We’ve been playing lots of card games this week – if was fun to teach him a new one.

Home from school

Shecklet #4 is running a low-grade temp today 🙁 I kept her home from school and was letting her watch some PBS Kids. She shut it off and fell asleep on the couch. My poor baby!

Contagious…again

This year is the year our house has been contagious with just about every common childhood illness/bug. First it was pink eye. Everyone except for me (so, so thankful I didn’t get it) had it at some point over the course of a month. Then it was hand foot and mouth. Only one (#4) casualty there, but I think it was due to the others having had it when they were younger. Now we have lice. Yuck. And what a pain to get rid of! Laundry, hair treatment, constant checking and a missed day of school for the one who had it. I am praying it stops with one and we don’t all end up passing it around. 😝😷

Not well

Shecklet #1  was sick last week, but recovered in time to go to school on Friday & this past Monday.  On Tuesday morning, I received a call about 1 1/2 hours after dropping him and Shecklet #2 off at school, that he had a fever of 101.  We picked him up and I called our clinic to see if I could be doing something at home to help him get better.  Because of the duration of his illness and crummy cough, they recommended I bring him in to be seen by the doctor.  I’m glad we did.  The poor kid was diagnosed with pneumonia.  The doctor said we caught it in the early stages, but that it was important we monitor him closely.  Now he is on antibiotics and seems to be improving.  We’ve been trying to keep up with school work (math and reading) as best we can – in between naps and rest periods.  Today was supposed to be his class hot cocoa party (a fun celebration before the Christmas break) but we felt it was best to just keep him home so he can rest and get better.  As a pick-me-up, I told him he could pick out a movie to watch at home and we would have hot cocoa, too.  His little sister camped out next to him while they watched Cars.

First sick day

Little #2 missed his first day of kindergarten today. (Not THE first day, it was actually day 10 for him.) He came home last night not feeling well and when I checked him later on, he was running a low grade temp. Poor kid. I hate when my littles are sick.
