2nd Snow Day of 2023!

Day 2 of school being cancelled for the girls and this time Shecklet #2’s district cancelled as well. Shecklet #1’s school won’t ever cancel due to weather since he’s online, but Wednesdays are not usually a heavy day for him, so he got to enjoy the snow along with his siblings.

I think the final total from this latest snowstorm ended up being around 14 inches.

The snow was perfect for packing, so naturally, Jake and the kids built a sledding track. And not just any sledding track, but one that has been talked about for years. They piled the snow up and over the back fence.

Opening skiing 2022!

Trollhaugen has been making snow during this current October cold snap we’ve been having. The Trolls sent and email saying the slopes would be open for a few hours today.

Jake took the girls to get their first lift ticket of their 2022-2023 ski pass. (The boys had youth group tonight, so they stayed back with me.)

On the slopes again ⛷

Another day of skiing for some of the Shecklets and their dad. Shecklet #3 has given skiing a try and likes it. Shecklet #2 brought his friend along for the day. It sounds like warmer temps are on the way, so it might be their last day out of the season.

The hairnets are compliments of FMSC. We picked meals with our Saints Yes! kids from church this morning.

Snow and friends ❄️

Two separate days with friends (who are brothers.) I love that they enjoy being active outside in the winter! ❄️❄️❄️

Snowshoeing ❄️❄️❄️ Skiing

I took Shecklets #1 & 3 to meet up with Aunt Larissa for a snowshoe walk this afternoon. It was so nice to be outside and get fresh air!

Meanwhile, Jake took Shecklets #2 & 4 skiing.

2021-2022 Ski/Snowboard season

Mother nature gave us several inches of beautiful snow, so Jake took three of the kids on their first trip to Trollhaugen for the season this week. He went with Shecklet #3 last night and Shecklets #2 and #4 today.

Oh and Shecklet #4 found $20 on the slopes! She bought a treat to share and a hot cocoa for herself 🙂

Last day of the ski season 2021

It’s the first day of spring!

Trollhaugen’s 2020-2021 season ends tomorrow, but Jake and Shecklet #2 are calling today their final time out. We definitely used our family pass this winter!

Shecklet #2 spent countless hours at the terrain park and his ski jump skills continue to develop. (He can tell you all of the correct terminology for skiing off jumps.) I’m just grateful he hasn’t landed in a way that requires (another) trip to the ER.

There was a pond skip at 2pm and Shecklet #2 planned to give it a try.

Here’s the approach.

And his first attempt.

The third attempt resulted in him losing his skis at the end of the pond, but reports from his dad said he was just fine.

Break #2 in seven months

We had a solid run of 13 years without a broken bone that ended last fall. We now have our second break in 7 months.

This brave girl took a hard fall on Friday night while riding on some pretty tricky snow. Ski patrol brought her down the run and evaluated her before we took her home. Ortho urgent care diagnosed a broken humerus. ☹️ Follow up with the doctor is next week. We are praying she heals quickly and completely and that her pain decreases over the next couple of days.
